building a home

One of Evan's Christmas presents was a Gingerbread House kit. Yesterday, we finally assembled and decorated it. The kit included pre-made gingerbread pieces, icing, and candies. Evan and I provided the artistry (I'm being generous with this description).

We did have fun liberally applying gumdrops, gumballs, and peppermints to decorate this house. Now, I have to convince Evan that we should save this as a holiday decoration and not eat our creation.
Last night, Brian and Evan treated me to dinner at a favorite restaurant in celebration of my graduation from MU last month. My choice for favorite Lincoln restaurant: bread&cup in the Haymarket. Brian enjoyed bread&cup's Saturday night special of herb-encrusted beef brisket with corn salsa, while I really loved the pork chop with polenta and apples. And Evan proclaimed his pork shoulder sandwich with sweet apple cream and Gruyere cheese "like taking a bite of heaven."

I love this Lincoln eatery. If you haven't given them a try, I encourage you. Check out their website here: http://www.breadandcup.com/ and Kevin Shinn's blog here: http://breadandcup.blogspot.com/
